Web directories are different from normal search engines in the fact that they have only legitimate entries and thus filter off spam sites totally. There are now new types of web directory which is based on a bidding system. As other web directories it gives the link to a certain website based on the user’s needs. However in ordinary web directories the spot each website occupies is determined by the directory using its metrics. In bid directories
the website owner decides where their website should be listed. This is facilitated using a bidding system by which every spot on the directory is put up and the highest bidder gets the choice to occupy the first spot.
